Weakness
Memory corruption
Bugs that let a program write where it shouldn't in memory, often leading to code execution.
Languages like C and C++ leave memory management to the programmer. Writing past the end of a buffer or using memory after it was freed can let an attacker overwrite data the program relies on and redirect it to their own code. Memory-safe languages such as Rust remove most of this class.
