DNS

Domain Name System

The internet's phone book: it turns names like example.com into the addresses computers connect to.

Every connection starts with a DNS lookup, which makes DNS both critical and attractive to attackers: hijacking a domain's DNS records, poisoning a resolver's cache or abusing DNS to smuggle data can redirect or spy on traffic without touching the target's servers.
